4 weeks now

I have now been training for 4 weeks. I had no idea when I began that I would actually "Want" to get up and walk. For me this is a huge undertaking. I have never been an exerciser. Pretty much a couch potato. I have one verse that is keeping me going:
Hebrews 12:1-3
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

For all of us that have something that hinders us, some kind of opposition every day, whether it be a temptation not to train, an injury, other committments, heat, cold, whatever... know that if we fix our eyes on Jesus for HIS strength, we CAN DO THIS. He will be glorified when I cross the finish line in Chicago.

We will not grow weary and lose heart, we will persevere!!

He has provided no less than perfect weather lately. I have no excuses, but myself.

Thank you Mark for all of your words of encouragement. I am looking forward to continuing this journey as a Marathoner!!!

Thank you for your inspiring message. I too am a Christian who believes in the power of the Word. I even ordered one of those running id bracelets and put Proverbs 3:5-6 (my favorite verse).

When the training gets hard, I think we all should have a group prayer for strength and especially the morning of the marathon.

Have a great day!!
