5 Miles

I am really going to start posting to this... I read all of yours and they are so inspiring.

I am the one that is always at the back of the pack. I have been doing my walks everyday that I am supposed to. I walked 5 miles for the first time on Tuesday. I really, really don't want to run in the rain so I just did 5 miles today in place of tomorrow. I am having a really hard time trying to run. Last week I would run for 30-45 seconds at a time, but only about twice during a mile. Sunday, I went to the gym to get started crosstraining...for the first time.... I have not been doing that.... something I did made my ankles Hurt really bad, which I have not had this problem, also one of my knees is Very tight.... so I decided to listen to my body and not run this week. I will definately pick it back up next week and try to start developing an interval training. I really need to get to know more people and start communicating with yall... like Mark and Robin said... this will be a long haul if I try to do it alone. I am not running in the Run in the Sun, but maybe will show up for the "party" At any rate, if anyone is in Madison and would like to run in the mornings at Strawberry park, let me know. Y'all have fun in the rain... Ann

Hang in there Ann. There are a lot of us who feel we can't do it alone. That is why we spend so much time blogging, trying to get to know one another. Come Saturday night. It will be fun and a chance to meet other folks in the same boat!

I go to Strawberry Patch a lot. Maybe we can meet sometime. Sheila and Amy go also.

hey ann! i have major trouble trying to run too. i see these other folks, bigger than me (and i'm definately not small), able to run, and i think why can't i do it. i too, have tried the 30-45 seconds running , and it's just very hard. it actually did get a little easier for some reason. not really easier, but i was able to do it a little longer, with less distress.
my daughter's a massage therapy student, and she told me something about some people having short muscle fibers, and some having long muscle fibers. she said those with the short ones, just don't run easily. so i guess that's me. and maybe you too.
but we can still do this! we are gonna help each other!!

I think reservations are like 6:30 after the race for about 25 people. Please come if you can. Hopefully the race won't have to be cancelled due to the weather. I don't know if we are still going to meet if we don't run.

I am so glad you called me about going to the 5K together. You are a source of inspiration to me...you get out there when you are suppose to and have experienced solid progress. You are very passionate about this marathon and want to know every detail...the who, what, where, how, and the why of everything about it. You are definitely going to be able to run and see progress with that as well. Look at the plan Christa laid out in her blog and that my help you with the interval training.
